What is X3D?
X3D is an initiative to leverage 3D as digital media as easily as we do with text and 2D graphics.
It provides the technology to enable customers to view, modify, customize and reuse 3D visualizations in
other applications on the web or on any network device from cell phones to supercomputers. For more information go to
http://www.web3d.org/.
Why develop ChefX3D when there are already other model editors?
Most 3D editors take the tack of making a commmon platform that end-user developers add plugin
functionality specific for their project. This gives a common look and capability which makes it easy
for a 3D modeler to move between projects easily. However, this editing capability is not embeddable
into another application. For real applications the editing portion is only a small task.
